Case Study: Grundfos achieves faster, more efficient pump innovation with Dassault Systèmes

A Dassault Systemes Case Study

Preview of the Grundfos Case Study

Revolutionising pump technology with PLM solutions from IBM and Dassault Systèmes

Grundfos, a global leader in pump manufacturing, needed to meet a demanding efficiency target (each updated model must be ≥5% more efficient), scale engineering globally amid local skill shortages, and shift from special-purpose machines to standardised, customisable pumping solutions that require greater automation. To address these challenges, Grundfos adopted PLM solutions from Dassault Systemes—primarily CATIA for advanced 3D design and FEM analysis and ENOVIA VPLM for a single, shared repository and collaborative engineering.

Deploying Dassault Systemes' CATIA and ENOVIA VPLM across 15 sites (about 450 users) enabled concurrent engineering, extensive reuse of design knowledge, and integrated simulation, accelerating development and improving quality. Measurable impacts include a 50% reduction in development time, 20% higher design efficiency, a ten-fold increase in analysis productivity, and operational gains reported in a ROI study (production error costs −80%, new parts −10%, assembly layout time/cost −30%, manufacturing cycle time −20%, late-delivery penalties −65%); the rollout was non‑disruptive and completed ahead of schedule.
