Reducing dramatically development lead time with CATIA specialized applications

Panasonic Home Appliances, maker of refrigerators, washing machines and induction-heated (IH) ranges, faced rising demand and intensifying competition that required dramatically shorter development lead times and greater product variation. To move from 2D drawings to a 3D, concurrent-engineering approach, Panasonic selected Dassault Systemes’ CATIA and PLM technologies to improve collaboration across design, mechanical, circuit and manufacturing teams.

Dassault Systemes implemented CATIA-driven 3D workflows, CATIA Analysis and direct transmission of 3D data to molding machines and non-design departments to enable concurrent engineering and early manufacturability checks. The result: eliminated data-conversion and many manual reworks, halved prototype manufacturing lead time versus conventional NC machining, cut resin-component lead times by 90% and reduced die creation time by 40%, while improving prototype accuracy and helping Panasonic protect its market share.
