Port Kembla Coal Terminal, which handles coal deliveries by road and rail and stores cargo in a large on-site stockyard before loading ships, needed to increase terminal throughput and reduce bottlenecks in inbound and outbound operations. Dassault Systemes deployed its Quintiq planning solution to capture PKCT’s operational knowledge and support complex scheduling for stockyard, machinery and berth use.

Dassault Systemes’ Quintiq implementation automated planning, improved decision support and increased asset utilization, lifting berth utilization by 8% and delivering roughly a 10% gain in stockyard utilization according to PKCT—reducing bottlenecks and increasing overall throughput.
