Ochiai Nexus Corporation, a Japanese manufacturer of automotive conveyors and assembly machines, needed to move beyond 2D CAD to exchange 3D data with automakers, produce more precise quotations, and streamline its design process. To address this, Ochiai Nexus adopted CATIA PLM Express (including 2D Layout for 3D Design) from Dassault Systemes to transition its 2D drawing database into a 3D design environment.

Using Dassault Systemes' CATIA PLM Express, Ochiai Nexus imported and edited existing drawings in 3D, enabled design-stage collision detection, standardized parts, and automated weight and center-of-gravity calculations. The solution cut rework by 86%, improved design quality and communication with customers, reduced design time, and is moving from a successful pilot to full production deployment.
