A Dassault Systemes Case Study
Mobelife, a Belgian high‑tech company specializing in patient‑specific orthopedic implants, faced the challenge of restoring anatomy and stability in severely damaged pelvic bones during hip revision surgeries. To ensure mechanical integrity for one‑off acetabular reconstructions, Mobelife incorporated Dassault Systemes’ Abaqus FEA into a workflow that starts from CT‑based 3D reconstruction and includes image processing (Materialise Mimics), surgical collaboration, and additive manufacturing.
Mobelife used an automated preprocessor to link patient CT data and individualized muscle loading to Abaqus FEA (Dassault Systemes) to optimize implant geometry, screw positions and porous interfaces, then produced the titanium implant by SLM under ISO 13485. In the highlighted case a 35 ml bone defect was filled, computed stresses stayed within the implant’s safety range, and the patient was walking pain‑free within days, with recovery exceeding usual primary rehabilitation patterns—demonstrating the measurable clinical impact of Dassault Systemes’ simulation technology.
