A Dassault Systemes Case Study
Massachusetts Maritime Academy faced a growing IT and instructional challenge: managing and updating individual AutoCAD LT licenses across virtual desktops used by engineering and marine students. To streamline CAD instruction and reduce administrative overhead, the Academy turned to Dassault Systemes’ DraftSight product, adopting it for Facilities Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering and Marine Engineering coursework.
Dassault Systemes implemented DraftSight via the Educator Premium Pack—deploying DraftSight on 50 virtual desktop devices and provisioning 45 classroom plus 200 campus licenses tied to a central license server. The switch simplified license management, enabled campus-wide access, and yielded measurable savings (the school reports “tens of thousands of dollars” in reduced management fees), with plans to make DraftSight the exclusive CAD tool for the 2012–2013 academic year.
