A Dassault Systemes Case Study
Kengo Kuma and Associates, the Tokyo-based architecture firm known for its inventive use of wood and other organic materials, faced growing challenges as projects and offices scaled up: their previous 3D tools could not meet strict accuracy requirements, slowed with large data sets, and made tracking revisions difficult. To overcome these issues they adopted Dassault Systemes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform with the Design for Fabrication industry solution and its CATIA application.
Dassault Systemes delivered a cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE/Design for Fabrication solution that provided stable, high-performance parametric modeling, centralized revision history, and real-time collaboration across offices. KKAA used the platform to position and optimize roughly 2,000 precast planks on the V&A Dundee façade, sharply reducing irregular parts, eliminating performance lags on data-heavy models, streamlining design and change workflows, and improving overall design quality, efficiency and cross-site coordination.
