KaVo, the global dental-equipment manufacturer, needed an automated way to produce detailed 3D interactive work instructions and product illustrations from its CATIA models to improve assembly quality and shorten time to market. To address this, KaVo selected Dassault Systemes' 3DVIA Composer (deployed with IBM assistance) to create a view format derived directly from its 3D data and integrate with existing PLM processes.

Dassault Systemes’ 3DVIA Composer was integrated with KaVo’s ENOVIA-managed workflows and ERP and supported by upgraded 64-bit hardware to handle large CATIA assemblies, allowing automatic generation of illustrations at product release. As a result, KaVo reports more than a 50% reduction in time to produce technical documentation, faster updates and pre-production documentation, anticipated fewer assembly errors, and reduced printing costs.
