Märklin, the world leader in model railroading, faced a fragmented development environment after multiple acquisitions that impeded data flow and slowed product development. To modernize its end‑to‑end process chain, Märklin selected Dassault Systemes solutions—CATIA, ENOVIA SmarTeam and 3DVIA Composer—to create a homogeneous data environment and enable better cross‑site collaboration.

Dassault Systemes implemented an integrated PLM foundation combining CATIA and ENOVIA SmarTeam, with 3DVIA Composer for in‑house technical documentation, consolidating four prior CAD systems and eliminating redundant document management. The result improved data management and communication (nearly 320 employees use ENOVIA SmarTeam 3D viewing), streamlined NC programming and parts‑list generation, reduced outsourcing for illustrations, and is expected to cut design costs and lead times by about 30%.
