Hyundai Motor Company needed to optimize windshield wiper performance and fatigue life across all its vehicle models. To address this, Hyundai partnered with Dassault Systemes using SIMULIA’s Abaqus Unified Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to capture rubber material behavior, kinematics, loads and stresses in a single, realistic simulation environment.
Using Dassault Systemes’ Abaqus, Hyundai created a unified FEA model that let engineers run wiping and durability analyses by changing boundary and loading conditions instead of rebuilding separate models. The approach enabled lighter-weight wiper designs, increased link stiffness by 17% and reduced wiper arm stress by 14%, while cutting prototype iterations and building a reusable knowledge base for faster design optimization.
