Hydro‑Québec, the Québec government–owned integrated electrical company that generates, transports and distributes almost all electricity in Québec, needed a refurbishing feasibility study for its Manic‑3 generating station to evaluate cost and schedule. Dassault Systèmes was engaged, leveraging CATIA and DELMIA to model and analyze the plant.

Dassault Systèmes created a virtual representation of the plant and equipment and simulated the dismantling, movement and reassembly processes to validate approaches without physical trials. Dassault Systèmes’ solution shortened the project schedule by 200 weeks and saved CAN$50M through virtual simulation and optimized planning.
