Honda Leverages Simulation to Meet Changing Market Needs

Honda Life Creation Center faced accelerating market change—environmental regulations and rapid growth in developing markets—that demanded much faster vehicle development and far fewer physical prototypes. To adopt model‑based development (MBD) and improve early‑stage design accuracy, they turned to Dassault Systemes solutions, including 3DS CATIA Analysis, Isight and Abaqus, to expand the use of computer‑aided engineering (CAE) across design teams.

Dassault Systemes implemented easier high‑quality meshing with 3DS CATIA, automated multi‑iteration optimization with Isight, and specialist nonlinear and vibration analysis with Abaqus, enabling designers to run more CAE themselves. The result was a major boost in CAE adoption—about 70% of desired applications are now covered—reduced need for prototypes, faster development cycles, and better early completion of the hardware skeleton prior to mass‑production.
