GID Development Corporation, a six-person design firm that works with inventors on a wide variety of products, needed powerful tools to develop complex designs quickly and to communicate them clearly to overseas factories for right‑first‑time manufacturing. To meet that challenge it adopted Dassault Systemes’ DS PLM portfolio—notably CATIA, ENOVIA SmarTeam and 3DVIA Composer—to support design, data management and supplier collaboration.

Dassault Systemes implemented CATIA (Imagine & Shape and Functional Molded Part) for rapid concept and manufacturable designs, ENOVIA SmarTeam for data and BOM management, and 3DVIA Composer to document and communicate assemblies to Chinese manufacturers. The solution cut first‑phase design time by about 30%, helped achieve right‑first‑time prototypes, lifted margin per project from about 9–12% to 20–25%, drove a 45% revenue increase in fiscal 2007–08, and enabled GID to win much larger contracts while keeping headcount steady.
