Heesen Yachts, a Dutch shipyard that builds fully custom 30–80m luxury superyachts, faced the challenge of managing extreme design complexity, tight delivery schedules and frequent late-stage client changes. To handle multidisciplinary collaboration and innovation across design, engineering and production, Heesen adopted Dassault Systemes solutions, notably CATIA for 3D modeling and DELMIA for digital manufacturing.

Using Dassault Systemes’ integrated 3D environment, Heesen moved to a 3D‑based development process with real‑time multidisciplinary collaboration, virtual mock‑ups and automated flattened sheets for precise DELMIA cutting. The result was faster, more accurate design-to-production handoffs, fewer assembly interferences and on‑time deliveries; for example the Galactica Star reaches nearly 30 knots and uses about 20% less fuel than yachts in its class, while client satisfaction and first‑time‑right builds have measurably improved.
