A Dassault Systemes Case Study
Great Wall Motor, a leading Chinese automaker seeking to expand into international markets, faced the challenge of meeting strict EU eco-design and Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) regulations while improving overall product quality. To establish an enterprise-wide compliance and PLM platform, Great Wall Motor engaged Dassault Systemes and adopted ENOVIA Materials Compliance Central (MCC) and CATIA.
Dassault Systemes implemented ENOVIA MCC to collect, analyze and report material composition across BOMs and suppliers and deployed CATIA for virtual design and testing, enabling cross‑department collaboration and supplier training. As a result, Great Wall Motor achieved EU WVTA accreditation for four models in 2009 (making them the first Chinese brand so certified), those models now account for over 30% of overseas sales, and the company reduced design team effort (from about 20 to fewer than 10 people) and shortened time-to-market.
