GN ReSound Optimizing hearing aid performance with realistic simulation solutions from SIMULIA

GN ReSound, a global leader in hearing instruments, faced long, trial‑and‑error development cycles and difficulty accurately measuring and visualizing vibro‑acoustic behavior and feedback in extremely compact hearing aids. To address this, GN ReSound adopted Dassault Systemes’ simulation tools—specifically SIMULIA’s Abaqus FEA—to move from physical prototyping to realistic virtual testing.

Using Abaqus FEA from SIMULIA, GN ReSound imports 3D CAD, builds finite‑element vibro‑acoustic models, validates results against lab measurements (vibration velocity, sound pressure, acoustic holography), and iteratively optimizes geometry and materials. Dassault Systemes’ solution improved device stability and sound performance, shortened development time, and reduced the number of physical prototypes required, giving engineers faster insight and faster time to production.
