A Dassault Systemes Case Study
ElliptiGO, a company founded to build the world’s first low-impact elliptical bike, faced the challenge of turning a novel outdoor fitness concept into a manufacturable, high-performance product. To develop and commercialize this first-of-its-kind elliptical bike, ElliptiGO used Dassault Systemes’ SolidWorks Premium design, visualization and simulation tools to iterate and validate the complex mechanism and frame design.
Using Dassault Systemes’ SolidWorks, ElliptiGO ran hundreds of virtual design iterations, fatigue/strength and motion analyses, collision detection and surfacing studies, which enabled production-ready designs and attractive aesthetics. The approach cut the number of physical prototypes by an order of magnitude (1,000 percent), reduced development costs, supported the transition from garage prototypes to full-scale manufacturing, and helped the company bring a revolutionary product to market and sell more than 1,000 bikes.
