AngloGold Ashanti needed more reliable, transparent long‑term scheduling to improve productivity and planning across four open‑pit gold operations in Africa. Faced with inconsistent workflows, heavy reliance on scripts/macros and spreadsheets, and long processing times for “what‑if” scenarios, AngloGold Ashanti turned to Dassault Systemes and its GEOVIA MineSched (with GEOVIA Whittle for strategic planning) to standardize and accelerate mine planning.

Dassault Systemes implemented GEOVIA MineSched and GEOVIA services so the Mine Planning Hub can create and run multiple sophisticated scenarios in minutes—simple budgets in 3–10 minutes and large models in about 45 minutes—without customization or scripting. The solution improved auditability, visualization and complex material‑handling, is live at three mines with wider rollout planned, and enabled AngloGold Ashanti to handle large projects (e.g., 25 geological models, 45 locations, 75 stockpiles, 272 material classes) while producing more robust, transparent and actionable schedules and budgets.
