Fuji Xerox uses CST Studio Suite for EMC-compliant Printer Design

Fuji Xerox, a leading developer of office multifunction devices, faced electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electrostatic discharge (ESD) issues from many modular electronic components in its printers, with coupling paths unclear during testing. To better understand and mitigate these problems, Fuji Xerox used Dassault Systemes’ CST Studio Suite for electromagnetic simulation.

Using Dassault Systemes’ CST Studio Suite (leveraging HPC, MPI cluster computing and GPU acceleration), Fuji Xerox imported PCB and frame models and simulated the full assembly within a workday, reproducing EMI spectra and ESD test setups that closely matched measurements. The simulations exposed current flows and coupling paths, guided a new contact countermeasure and PCB revisions that reduced EMI and ESD susceptibility, cut the number of physical prototypes required, and shortened development cycles.
