Case Study: FEops improves patient-specific TAVI outcomes and accelerates device development with Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA Abaqus

A Dassault Systemes Case Study

Preview of the FEops Case Study

FEops uses simulation solutions from Dassault Systèmes to help clinicians and medical-device manufacturers customize patient treatment

FEops, a Ghent University spinoff, addresses the challenge of personalizing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and other structural heart procedures by providing patient‑specific simulation to clinicians and device manufacturers. To do this, FEops uses Dassault Systemes simulation solutions—notably SIMULIA’s Abaqus FEA—so they can turn CT scans into 3D finite‑element models and forecast how valve devices will interact with individual anatomies prior to treatment.

Using Dassault Systemes’ Abaqus FEA alongside its proprietary tools, FEops’ HEARTguide/TAVIguide platform runs predictive simulations that inform device sizing, positioning and risk, helping speed device development and clinical planning. The approach is CE‑marked, is being prepared for FDA submission, has reduced simulation times from days to hours, and in a 112‑patient study published in Circulation Interventions successfully predicted patients at risk for post‑TAVI conduction abnormalities—demonstrating measurable clinical and time‑to‑market benefits.
