Marco Alfaro Consultores, a Santiago-based firm specializing in ore sampling, geological modelling and resource estimation, faced growing datasets that made geological estimations slow to process and delayed updates to production schedules. To address the need for faster, more timely resource estimates and avoid sending waste to processing, the company adopted GEOVIA Surpac 6.7 from Dassault Systemes.

Dassault Systemes’ Surpac 6.7 uses multi-threaded technology to leverage all available CPU cores, delivering dramatic speedups: an ordinary kriging run on 549,994 blocks completed in 1 minute 30 seconds versus 25:26 with Surpac 6.5.1 (and 10:17 with 6.6.1), yielding roughly 16–17× faster results. Dassault Systemes reports up to 95% reductions in block-model processing times and as much as 200× improvement for kriging/IDW workflows, enabling faster schedules, less wasted processing, and more productive geologists.
