European Spallation Source needed to coordinate the design work of dozens of European partner institutes and suppliers to deliver the world’s largest neutron research facility—23 buildings, millions of parts—on time and on budget. To manage concurrent engineering, configuration control and multi‑partner data exchange, ESS adopted Dassault Systemes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform (building on CATIA and ENOVIA) to provide integrated design and data management.

Dassault Systemes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform gave ESS a single 3D master model that consolidates all partners’ designs, supports weekly model uploads, early clash detection, linked requirements and virtual installation sequencing. The result was smoother project coordination and construction, safer and better‑tested installation and maintenance, faster decision‑making and reduced rework by catching design discrepancies before field deployment—all enabled by Dassault Systemes’ solutions.
