A Dassault Systemes Case Study
Drayson Technologies, maker of the CleanSpace IoT air‑quality network and the Freevolt RF energy‑harvesting system, faced the challenge of integrating a compact dual‑band, high‑gain antenna into its CleanSpace Tag so the device could harvest RF energy and power onboard CO, temperature and Bluetooth sensors without frequent battery changes. To solve this design and size constraint they used Dassault Systemes' CST Studio Suite to model and optimize the antenna and harvester within the device footprint.
Using CST Studio Suite, Dassault Systemes enabled rapid, accurate simulation—leveraging Time and Frequency Domain solvers, GPU acceleration and broad CAD/GERBER import support—so Drayson Technologies could produce a functional RF harvester that can recharge the CleanSpace Tag battery when sufficient RF power density is available. The Dassault Systemes solution cut development time and simulation cost, allowed Freevolt to be tailored into other customer products, and delivered a validated antenna/harvester that improves device autonomy and speeds customer integration.
