A Dassault Systemes Case Study
Arup, a global design, engineering and consulting firm, needed to create innovative, technically advanced and iconic sports stadiums and buildings while meeting tight schedules and budgets. To manage complex geometry and frequent iterative input from many stakeholders, Arup adopted Dassault Systemes solutions—primarily CATIA and Gehry Technologies’ Digital Project—integrated with Microsoft Office 2007 to drive and control 3D models and design data.
Using Dassault Systemes’ CATIA and Digital Project with Excel-driven parametric workflows and Visual Basic scripts, Arup was able to iterate designs rapidly, automatically update models, and share precise production data across partners. The approach enabled thousands of components to be modeled and coordinated (notably the Beijing National Stadium), accelerated design-to-build time, reduced resource needs, maintained design intent through construction, and improved manufacturing accuracy, sustainability and on-time, on-budget delivery.
