Case Study: ARRK Research & Development achieves low-cost, on-time ULTra driverless vehicles with Dassault Systèmes PLM (CATIA & SIMULIA)

A Dassault Systemes Case Study

Preview of the ARRK Research & Development Case Study

Developing advanced driverless transport systems with DS PLM

ARRK Research & Development needed to develop low-cost, driverless personal rapid transit vehicles and guidance systems that could run on dedicated tracks in a variety of locations. To meet this challenge, ARRK R&D adopted Dassault Systemes PLM solutions, primarily CATIA for virtual product design and SIMULIA (including ABAQUS FEA) for virtual testing.

Using Dassault Systemes' PLM suite, ARRK designed, tested and produced the ULTra PRT vehicles—delivering the first 21 vehicles on time, to specification and within budget. The program achieved measurable outcomes such as track installation rates up to 80 metres per night and vehicle speeds up to 40 kph, improved suspension durability and tracking accuracy through SIMULIA testing, and lower operating costs with zero emissions at the point of use.
