A Dassault Systemes Case Study
Delft University of Technology Racing Team needed to design and build a championship‑winning electric race car for the global Formula Student competition. To speed design, simulation and collaboration they partnered with Dassault Systemes, using the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform—including CATIA Version 6 for 3D design, SIMULIA Abaqus for analysis, and ENOVIA Version 6 for data management.
Dassault Systemes’ solutions enabled virtual validation and coordinated work across 70 students, letting the team deliver the DUT12 at just 145 kg (over 20 kg lighter than the previous model), validate parts before assembly, and optimize performance—setting a 75 m acceleration record of 3.45 s, 0–100 km/h in 2.4 s, producing 144 hp, winning the Formula Student Germany electric class and contributing to a total of 14 awards at Hockenheim and Silverstone.
