Cuts mold set-up time by 40% with CATIA Knowledgeware

DBM Reflex, a Laval, Canada–based designer and manufacturer of optical inserts and automotive tail‑light molds, needed to reduce CAD design time and capture its sophisticated optical intellectual property for reuse across Design, Methods and Machining teams. Working with Dassault Systemes and using CATIA Knowledgeware and CAA Extended Development, the company aimed to eliminate repeated redesigns, improve downstream documentation and make its IP accessible to all departments.

By expanding CATIA with Knowledgeware templates and CAA Extended Development integrations (including an interface to DBM Reflex’s SIMOPTIC application), DBM Reflex automated publications, macros and NC programming so designers no longer recreate work for each department. The Dassault Systemes–based solution cut time on the first two mold set‑ups by about 40% (e.g., reducing tooling from 10 to 5 and shortening Method‑to‑Machining from two days to under one), enabling faster lead times, lower costs and higher throughput.
