A Dassault Systemes Case Study
Shanghai Xian Dai Architectural Design, a leading Chinese architectural firm responsible for projects like the Shanghai World Financial Center and the Zendai Himalayan Art Center, needed to deliver increasingly complex, “bionic” and high‑rise structures while shortening design times, controlling costs, and managing large amounts of design data. To address these challenges they selected Dassault Systemes PLM solutions, including CATIA, SIMULIA (Abaqus FEA), ENOVIA SmarTeam and 3DVIA Virtools, for their design-to-construction processes.
Dassault Systemes implemented an integrated workflow: CATIA for precise 3D modeling of curved, organic forms; SIMULIA/Abaqus for nonlinear and dynamic structural analysis (including earthquake simulations) and design optimization; ENOVIA SmarTeam for centralized data and collaboration; and 3DVIA Virtools for real‑time simulation of people and vehicle flows. The result was shorter development times, improved design quality and safety, centralized collaboration, and measurable cost savings—most notably about a 10% reduction in steel through Abaqus-driven optimization.
