Constructions Mecaniques de Normandie, a France-based shipyard that builds military and commercial vessels, needed to deliver highly customized boats while controlling costs and schedules in a paper-based, competitive marine market. To move beyond 2D workflows and improve collaboration across its design office, CMN turned to Dassault Systemes and its 3DEXPERIENCE Platform (including CATIA, ENOVIA and DELMIA).

Dassault Systemes implemented the 3DEXPERIENCE solution so CMN could work on a single 3D digital mock-up, manage information centrally, and drive manufacturing (DELMIA generates plasma-cutting files from 3D geometry). The result: designers collaborate on the latest model, costly errors are reduced, time to market is shortened and CMN reports a fourfold reduction in time spent producing isometric piping plans—delivering measurable cost and schedule improvements and stronger competitive advantage.
