A Dassault Systemes Case Study
Ashok Leyland, India’s second-largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, faced rising customer expectations and a highly cyclical market that forced faster new product development and more configurable vehicle variants while tightly controlling cost and quality. To support a modular, configured-to-order approach and keep development capabilities in-house, Ashok Leyland selected Dassault Systemes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform (including Target Zero Defect and Modular, Glocal & Secure).
Dassault Systemes implemented a unified 3DEXPERIENCE environment that links CAD, PDM and PLM, enables virtual simulation, centralized data/versioning and collaborative workflows; the platform generates comprehensive variant BOMs and supports configuration management. As a result (per Ashok Leyland), development cycles have shortened from two–three years to about 1.5 years, engineers can produce a 150% BOM of variant characteristics, physical prototypes are reduced, BOM creation is faster and quality is monitored in real time — demonstrating clear cost, time and quality gains from Dassault Systemes’ solution.
