Townsville City Community Engagement on Major Projects

Townsville City Council faced a complex community‑engagement challenge during its $43 million CBD Utility Upgrades (2015–2019) to replace a 60‑year‑old water supply network amid rapid CBD development. With work phased across six regions and interactions touching nearly 7,000 properties, the Council needed a way to coordinate notifications, enquiries and complaints, and stakeholder correspondence — so it deployed Darzin Software’s stakeholder engagement solution to manage the program.

Darzin Software was implemented to register and maintain stakeholder and property records, send targeted work and traffic notifications, log and respond to public enquiries and complaints, and report engagement activity by property, street and region. The system enabled staff to track and report across the six project regions for almost 7,000 properties, streamlined communications and recordkeeping, and proved successful enough that Townsville City Council expanded its Darzin license in late 2016 to cover several other major infrastructure projects.
