RMS Community Consultation on Road Upgrades

KBR was engaged in 2013 to develop options for a $16 million second road‑over‑rail bridge in Gunnedah and needed to run extensive community consultation to resolve traffic and level‑crossing delays. Community engagement included two drop‑in sessions (58 participants), eight meetings with property owners and 73 feedback forms. To capture and analyse this input, KBR used Darzin Software’s Darzin stakeholder management system.

Darzin Software’s platform was used to capture electronic and hard‑copy questionnaires, import all submissions, and generate detailed analyses and reports (summary of activities, total submissions, preferred options, top issues and comment drill‑downs). The tool also managed contact lists, enquiries, responses and media tracking, let RMS view updates in real time, and enabled PB consultants to pick up existing stakeholder records for detailed design. As a result KBR delivered a high‑quality community submissions report in a very short timeframe, streamlined ongoing consultation through construction and retained a single, accessible engagement database — with 73 submissions and dozens of stakeholder interactions captured and analysed.
