Peel Energy Scout Moor Expansion Planning Application Consultation

Peel Energy, a UK renewables developer responsible for over 2,000 MW of generation, needed robust public consultation and stakeholder engagement for its proposed Scout Moor Expansion — a major onshore wind project that would serve roughly 40,000 homes and could become England’s largest onshore wind farm. To manage extensive pre-application consultation and gather evidence for the Environmental Impact Assessment and planning submissions, Peel Energy implemented Darzin Software’s stakeholder engagement system (Darzin) in 2013.

Darzin Software provided the platform to collect, analyse and report stakeholder support and feedback, helping Peel Energy and consultants Pendragon document and present community engagement as part of the planning process. As a result, planning permission for the Scout Moor Expansion was granted by both Rochdale and Rossendale councils in September 2015, and the detailed stakeholder records produced with Darzin Software supported the subsequent public inquiry and decision process.
