Inpex’s Ichthys Community Engagement for a Mega Project

INPEX, operator of the Ichthys LNG Project — a three‑in‑one mega project offshore Western Australia combining offshore facilities, an onshore processing plant and an 890 km pipeline — faced large-scale community and stakeholder engagement demands during construction and commissioning. To centralise management of stakeholder records and engagement activities, INPEX implemented Darzin Software’s Darzin stakeholder CRM in 2016.

Darzin Software configured the Darzin stakeholder CRM as a single repository, importing historical planning data so teams could track the full history of interactions and consolidate and manage nearly 1,300 enquiries received in the first half of 2016. The solution supported INPEX’s wide-ranging engagement channels (hotlines, forums, events, jobs site and newsletters) and helped coordinate measurable community and operational outcomes — by end‑2016 the project was 87% complete, with over 3,500 locals employed, more than 1,000 local businesses awarded contracts and targeted community programs (including Indigenous employment pathways) in place.
