Community Engagement in Heavily Congested Road Upgrade

Leighton Contractors and its alliance partners were engaged to design and construct 5.6 kilometres of Windsor Road, one of Sydney’s most congested corridors, where complex utility relocations, heritage constraints and high live traffic volumes demanded careful planning and extensive community engagement. To manage the large number of affected residences, businesses and community facilities fronting the works, Leighton Contractors used Darzin Software’s stakeholder management software to coordinate communications and stakeholder interactions throughout the project.

Darzin Software’s platform centralized and streamlined stakeholder communications, enabling proactive engagement that kept the community informed and minimised disruption. As a result, Leighton Contractors’ alliance delivered the $105m upgrade 4.5 months ahead of schedule, cut travel times for up to 60,000 motorists daily, recorded nil lost time injuries on 750,000 hours worked, achieved 100% defect-free delivery and no level 1/2 environmental incidents, while implementing effective traffic management and environmental mitigation across 100 properties.
