Cable Public Affairs Channel - Customer Case Study

CPAC (Cable Public Affairs Channel), Canada’s bilingual, not-for-profit public affairs broadcaster, needed a closed captioning workflow that could handle multiple content types—live news, studio shows, long-form programming, and high-volume archive operations—while preserving caption data through editing and production changes. Dalet provided the technology foundation, using Dalet AmberFin and Dalet Galaxy to support CPAC’s English and French captioning needs.

Dalet implemented an end-to-end workflow that automatically extracts, matches, preserves, and repurposes captions as searchable metadata in SCC and TTML formats, ensuring captions survive editing and are ready for linear playout, VOD, web, and mobile distribution. The result was a reliable, automated captioning system that supports CPAC’s 24/7 operation and helps prepare content with both French and English captions while protecting metadata across the full production chain.
