Unlocking Fan Engagement by Tackling the OTT Workflow

The National Rugby League faced a growing OTT challenge: rapidly find, process and publish high-quality video and imagery from a vast, fragmented content inventory (including a 120‑year back catalog and feeds from broadcasters, clubs and syndicators) while eliminating duplicate assets and metadata, increasing automation, and cutting operational costs. To address this, NRL partnered with Dalet Flex — working alongside Bitmovin — to establish a common, automated workflow and centralize metadata and permissions across all content sources.

Dalet Flex was deployed as the core media logistics platform, integrated with Bitmovin’s encoding, player and analytics via APIs to enable cloud parallel processing and automated decisioning. The combined solution halved asset processing-to-publish times, increased parallel encoding capacity from 1 to 20+, delivered higher visual quality at lower bitrates, and unlocked bandwidth and cost savings — helping NRL reach ~100M viewers on social platforms, expand into new markets, grow subscribers, and accelerate fan engagement.
