A Daisy Group Case Study
The University of Chichester, a 5,000-student institution with two campuses and around 40 buildings, needed to improve resilience and reduce the environmental impact of its communications infrastructure. Its ageing Mitel MX-ONE platform and Solidus eCare contact centre were running older software on old servers with limited backup power and no formal resilience policy, so the university engaged Daisy Corporate Services to design a more robust, energy-efficient solution.
Daisy Corporate Services upgraded the MX-ONE to version 5.0 and the Solidus eCare Contact Centre and migrated both into a VMware-based virtualised environment, enabling hardware consolidation, High Availability and Fault Tolerance, and automatic failover to the Janet network. The deployment delivered continuous service across both campuses, allowed phased migration without user disruption, reduced the server footprint and achieved around a 25% reduction in power usage, while giving the university an easier upgrade path and enhanced resilience.
