Thomas Cook Airlines - Customer Case Study

Thomas Cook Airlines, one of the UK’s largest leisure carriers, faced slow, paper-based flight navigation processes and manual USB transfers that took three to four days and cost about £500,000 a year in logistics and paper. To modernize its operations, Thomas Cook Airlines engaged Daisy to deliver a bespoke mobile data solution — a SIM-only European data tariff on the Vodafone network combined with tablet connectivity for crew.

Daisy deployed 610 connections (covering over 500 pilots and additional staff), replacing USBs and paperwork so crews can transmit navigational data directly from the cockpit to the electronic Flight Bag and air traffic control. The Daisy solution reduced data turnaround from days to near real-time, improved access to up-to-date navigation and performance information, and delivered predictable, lower costs (including a reported 40% reduction on market-rate European data tariffs), driving significant operational efficiencies and cost savings.
