The Scottish Government - Customer Case Study

The Scottish Government, which serves around five million people and operates many sites with over 10,000 users daily, needed to centralise and simplify management of its telephony (directory updates, handset profiles and standard user setups). They engaged Daisy to replace legacy kit with a Mitel IP telephony solution—Virtual Mitel Communications Director (vMCD)—to deliver a more user‑friendly, centrally managed system.

Daisy deployed vMCD across seven sites (including St Andrew’s House), linked dual ISS servers in east and west data centres to form a single virtual IP PBX using IP‑encapsulated DPNSS trunks and Mitel 3300MXe hardware, and migrated voicemail to Mitel with NuPoint Messaging. The rollout to around 6,000 staff is complete, providing resilient, centrally managed telephony across the SCOTS network and enabling the Scottish Government to advance its IP telephony and unified communications plans.
