A Daisy Group Case Study
NHS Orkney, the smallest health board in Scotland serving 17 inhabited islands, needed to improve connectivity in Graham House, a staff residential block where thick walls and a single legacy router left students, locums and clinicians with limited WiFi. Facing tight budgets and remote-location constraints, NHS Orkney turned to long‑standing technology partner Daisy to upgrade its wireless infrastructure and related services.
Daisy surveyed and re‑cabled Graham House, installed Ubiquiti access points and deployed a managed WiFi solution with Daisy Engage for customized registration and analytics and Daisy Protect for safe browsing; Daisy also installed a Mitel telephony system at the disaster‑recovery site. The result is reliable WiFi throughout the building with strong signals in all bedrooms, staff and students able to access NHS email and online services without travelling to the main hospital, improved morale, and a scalable platform Daisy can extend across NHS Orkney’s estate.
