Berkshire College of Agriculture - Customer Case Study

Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA), a further education college serving about 2,000 learners, needed to replace an ageing, underperforming IT estate that was harming application performance and stretching limited IT staff and budgets. BCA selected Daisy to deliver a refreshed virtualised infrastructure, including a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), server virtualisation, new storage and backup and an updated network.

Daisy implemented a VDI sized for 500 desktops with centrally managed user profiles and applications, plus improved server virtualisation and storage/backup capabilities; the project was completed in early 2014. The result was markedly faster access to applications and data, simpler central administration, built-in scalability and enhanced business continuity — BCA now stores almost 7 TB of backup data with 90‑day disk retention and three‑month offsite tape retention, and can instantly replicate and roll out VDI environments in a disaster.
