A D4H Case Study
Central Queensland University, specifically its Associate Professor working with Animal Evac New Zealand, faced the challenge of managing complex animal disaster response operations during the Australian Bushfires. They needed a globally accessible system to coordinate personnel, many of whom were remote, and to track critical information like animal locations and resources in real-time. They turned to vendor D4H and implemented its Incident Management software to address these needs.
The solution from D4H involved a highly customized implementation of its cloud-based platform. The team configured status boards to track animal locations, humane trap placements, and shelter capacities, all of which automatically synced to a live incident map. They also used customized situation reports for collaborative planning and a logistics board to meticulously track deployment costs for their sponsors. This use of D4H provided a common operating picture, enabling efficient and transparent management of their rescue and recovery efforts during the disaster.
