How Knoxville-Knox County EMA is Operating Their EOC Remotely During COVID-19

The Knoxville-Knox County Emergency Management Agency (KEMA) faced the challenge of operating its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. The need for social distancing made their standard practice of in-person meetings in a physical EOC impossible. To ensure staff safety while coordinating response efforts with numerous partner agencies, KEMA required a virtual EOC solution.

KEMA implemented D4H Incident Management, a cloud-based software from vendor D4H, to create a virtual EOC. This solution provided a single source of truth for their COVID-19 response, enabling them to track cases, log updates, monitor facility statuses, and manage resource requests for PPE. The D4H software allowed staff to access all critical information and collaborate remotely from any device, successfully maintaining operations while ensuring social distancing.
