A D4H Case Study
The British Columbia Search and Rescue Association (BCSARA), which liaises between government agencies and 80 SAR teams, faced a challenge in centrally planning training and managing data. They lacked a provincial system to track volunteer certifications, equipment, and incident reports, making it difficult to forecast needs and analyze trends. BCSARA deployed D4H as a province-wide data management solution to address this administrative burden and connect their disparate teams.
The solution implemented by D4H provided an Organization Account to draw data from all 80 individual SAR teams. This allowed BCSARA to accumulate records, analyze provincial activity, and generate automated reports on critical metrics like volunteer hours. The results provided vital data for financial planning, forecasting, and research, including exporting lost person behavior statistics to a national database.
