A D4H Case Study
The Grand Conseil de la Nation Waban-Aki (GCNWA), an organization providing emergency support to First Nations communities across Quebec, needed a better way to coordinate preparedness and response for a wide range of potential disasters, from wildfires to floods. To centralize critical information and maintain an overview of community readiness, they turned to vendor D4H and its Incident Management software.
The solution implemented by D4H involved using customized forms and a map within the software to track each community's population, leadership, emergency plans, equipment, training, and shelter capacities. This allowed GCNWA to assign a preparedness score to each community, visualized by a color-coded marker on the map, which streamlined their monthly check-ins and identified areas needing support. Using D4H, the team could easily generate reports to share updates with federal government partners, enhancing their coordination and response capabilities across the vast region.
