A D2L Brightspace Case Study
Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is a large, fast-growing institution serving 90,000+ students—including more than 80,000 online learners—and is focused on supporting the “new traditional” student (working adults, military, returning and international learners). Faced with a legacy LMS that couldn’t scale, integrate with their student information systems, or meet rapid implementation and competency‑based needs, SNHU needed a flexible, cloud-hosted platform to support growth and improve student success.
SNHU implemented D2L Brightspace for its cloud hosting, responsive mobile design, easy course-building tools, and integrations with SIS and CRM systems; the accelerated rollout delivered instructor access in under four months. By using integrated analytics and outcome-based grading, SNHU can intervene earlier, monitor faculty performance, and report measurable gains in student success while positioning the university for scalable growth, competency-based programs, and future technologies like AR/VR.
