A D2L Brightspace Case Study
Vision Australia, a Melbourne-based nonprofit with 800 staff and 2,500 volunteers, supports people who are blind or have low vision—about 15% of its workforce. The organisation needed a one-stop, highly accessible learning platform because its old LMS lacked screen-reader compatibility and robust progress-tracking, forcing managers to rely on spreadsheets and making it hard to demonstrate competency development.
Vision Australia implemented D2L’s Brightspace—using Course Builder, an Accessibility Checker, Manager Dashboards, quizzes and surveys—to build accessible, curriculum-driven courses and streamline reporting. The platform enabled rapid rollout of a COVID-19 infection-control module that achieved over 80% completion (higher than on the previous LMS), improved learner engagement and real-time manager visibility, and supported remote working and future initiatives like Project Employability.
