Using the Brightspace platform to create a rich learning experience for tomorrow’s professionals

The Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLED) is a non-profit that administers the mandatory licensing course and evaluations for aspiring lawyers in Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Faced with high facility costs and the need to standardize competency-based training across three jurisdictions, CPLED sought a flexible, easy-to-manage eLearning solution with strong assignment tracking, content controls and support to guide the transition from a face-to-face model to blended, self-directed learning.

CPLED selected the Brightspace platform from D2L to build a simulated law-firm learning environment, using tools like discussions, release conditions and assignment workflows to sequence learning and foster remote collaboration. With D2L’s training and support, CPLED cut delivery costs while maintaining learner success, enabled sharing of resources across provinces, and is expanding mobile and grading efficiencies as it scales the program and collaborates with D2L on future features.
