A D2L Brightspace Case Study
The University of Waterloo, known for its strong focus on experiential learning, faced the challenge of sustaining high-quality education during COVID-19 while transitioning from fully remote instruction back to campus-based and blended learning. The university had already been using D2L Brightspace, along with Bongo for video assignments, to support course delivery and help students access learning materials in one place.
D2L Brightspace helped the University of Waterloo create a flexible one-stop learning hub with resources, quizzes, discussions, and video content, while Bongo enabled instructors to add video-based assignments and feedback. The result was more efficient teaching, more one-on-one support time, and greater student engagement; instructors reported that the platform worked reliably throughout the pandemic and beyond, and that it enabled more personalized, flexible learning for students balancing co-op, jobs, and studies.
